The club is now partially open, with the entrance and exit gates fully operational and all chains removed. Electricity is available at all slips. However, please be advised that the restrooms and water facilities are currently unavailable. Also, the fish cleaning stations remain closed. If you choose to participate in early season boating, please plan accordingly.

Covering the Fundamentals of Safe Boating, Federal and State Laws, Equipment, Finding your way, Charts, Adverse Conditions, Communications, Knots/Lines and more
***Course qualifies the applicant for the Michigan Boater Certification***
Classes will be held on Wednesday nights from 7-9 pm for five weeks and will start on Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Cost: $ 40/student including an excellent manual.
$60/couple sharing manual.
The classroom setting encourages extensive dialog in which the instructor can transfer much of his boating experience to the student.
Upon successful course completion, a certificate will be issued allowing those born on or after 7/1/1996 to operate a boat without restrictions and those 16 years of age and born on or after 12/31/1978 to operate a PWC without restrictions.

There was an error in the flyer that was mailed with the annual invoices regarding the date of the Annual Shareholders Meeting. The Annual Shareholders Meeting will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, not on May 16. The meeting will be held in the SSYC Community room and will start at 9:00 am. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided.
The water level is 7.16″ below the low water datum. This means that the high spots in the channel are about 22″ deep. Wind is out the south at 33 knots. No boats should be in the club at this time of year but if there is a boat in the marina do not try to leave at this time. See picture below.
As a reminder, all boats must be removed from SSYC by November 1st. All perimeter gates will be chained shut on November 1st and all the club locks will be changed. The main entry and exit gate will remain open for a very short period afterwards for a short period of time so that contractors can complete final winter closure activities.
Also, the club water is now off. Restrooms, pump outs, laundry and the fish cleaning stations are all closed and unavailable for use.
Winter dock height has been determined. Please measure the distance of your dock height to the level of the water and compare to SSYC’s dock 180. (Your dock can be higher but not lower.) Please note that the water level fluctuates constantly so the measurement and adjustment must take place within a short period of time. It is the dock owners responsibility to adjust their slip or make arrangements to have the dock adjusted in preparation for winter. Please note that this needs to be done prior to the club closing the last weekend of October.
Volunteers are needed for the SSYC club closing work party on Saturday Oct. 12, 2024. The activity will start at 10:00 am and the club will provide coffee and doughnuts. We need help to power wash the west building, store picnic tables, clean and store the grills, and raise docks. Please attend if possible.
Please note the club closing dates as follows:
Oct. 15, 2024 – The water will be turned off at the club so the bathrooms, laundry, and dock faucets will no longer function.
Nov. 1, 2024 – All boats must be out of the club.
Nov. 1, 2024 – The club perimeter gates will be closed. Only the main entrance and exit gates will function.
Nov. 15, 2024 – The electric will be turned off at the club and the entrance and exit gates will be locked.

It’s PARTY TIME
SSYC is sponsoring a party on Saturday the 10th of August for all Renters & owners & their Guests beginning at 5PM. Pizza & Beverages will be provided. The PARTY will be located on the west side community room area. A Big Cooler with ice will also be in the breeze way. Tent & tables will be set up. At 7PM we will have a Euchre tournament.
There will be sign up sheets posted around the club so please RSVP.
