Club Activities:
- The 2026 America’s Boating Club of Saginaw Bay (formerly called Saginaw Bay Sail and Power Squadron) will be at SSYC for boat safety inspections Saturday, TBD. Sign up sheets for a boat inspection will be posted at the bath houses and an announcement will be posted on the website. This is a good way to learn a little more about your boat and boating safely on the Saginaw Bay. It helps avoid (but not necessarily stops) those untimely inspections by the Coast Guard too. Hope you take advantage of this great opportunity.
- 2026 Annual SSYC Party This year is Sunset Shores Yacht Club’s 40th Anniversary. Time to celebrate! SSYC will be sponsoring an anniversary party in and around the community room. On August 8th, 2026, meet and great starting at 5:30 pm and dinner at 6:00pm. Food will be catered by Latitudes 43 Restaurant. Menu includes chicken, ham, potatoes, bean casserole, rice, salad, fruit, desserts. Please see the Commodore or other board members if you can help with set up and clean up. Thank You!
SSYC Key Dates:
- Club Gates Open April 1 The gates to the club will open on April 1, 2026. The water and electric will be turned on around the third Saturday of April depending on current weather conditions.
- Annual Shareholders Meeting April 25 The Annual Shareholders Meeting will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The meeting will be held in the SSYC Community room and will start at 9:00 am. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided.
- Entrance Channel Buoys Deployed May 15 SSYC will work with BCYC to get the channel sounded and the channel buoys installed by May 15, 2026. Please note that this activity is weather dependent and we need to coordinate timing with BCYC.
- Annual SSYC Party August 8 The annual picnic will take place on August 8, 2026 in and around the SSYC community Room. the party will start at 5:30 pm. Please see activity info at the top of this page.
- Winter Dock Height Set September 14 The winter dock height will be set on September 14, 2026. Please watch the bathroom bulletin boards and Website posting for more information.
- Club Water Turned Off the week of October 12 The water will be turned off, restrooms locked, raising of remaining docks, picnic Tables stored, and equipment will be winterized the week of October 12, 2026.
- SSYC Closed for the Season on November 1 The club will be closed for the season on November 15, 2026 so all boats will need to be out prior to this date. Please note that all of the gate locks except the main gate will be changed on November 1, 2026. The main gate lock will be changed and the electric will be turned off on November 15, 2026.
